Numerical Simulation of Leakage and Diffusion Process of LNG Storage Tanks

To investigate the evolution process of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) liquid pool and gas cloud diffusion, Realizable k-ε model Eluerian were used to numerically simulate phase leakage diffusion storage tanks. The experimental results showed that some flashed vaporized rapidly form a combustible during continuous leakage. explosive was divided into heavy accumulation, entrainment heat transfer, light drift. vapor gradually separated two parts from whole “fan leaf shape”. One part cloud; other spread with wind in downwind direction. change aperture had greater impact on spill dispersion tank. increasing would lead 10.3 times increase area, 78.5% methane concentration at 0.5 LFL, 22.6% crosswind 249% flammable volume. Within variation range aperture, trend remained consistent, but time for keep stable enter next stage delayed. low-pressure cavity area within 200 m leeward surface tank accumulate long time, forming local high which should be an focus alert prediction.
